Payments thru Whatsapp?

WhatsApp has announced that it is launching a new feature in Brazil that will enable people to pay their local small businesses within a WhatsApp chat. This feature will make it easier for people and small businesses to buy and sell on WhatsApp without having to visit a website, use another app or pay in person. The seamless and secure checkout experience will be available to a small number of businesses initially and will be rolled out to many more in the coming months.

In Brazil, people can search for a business, browse goods and services, add them to their cart, and make a payment with just a few taps. This feature is made possible by linking a supported payment partner, such as Cielo, Mercado Pago, or Rede, to the WhatsApp Business app. The payment can be made using Mastercard and Visa debit, credit, and pre-paid cards issued by the participating banks.

To ensure the security of payments, card numbers are encrypted and securely stored, and people are required to create a Payment PIN and use it for each payment. Additionally, customer support is available to assist users if needed.

WhatsApp is excited to bring this new feature to Brazil and hopes it will help people and small businesses connect on the platform. The company looks forward to expanding this feature to more businesses and countries in the future.
