PROTECTING YOUR ACCOUNT USING 2 FACTOR AUTHENTICATION

Protecting your account Using 2 Factor Authentication

Two-step verification is an optional feature that provides an extra layer of security for your WhatsApp account. To manage your two-step verification settings, follow these steps:

Enabling Two-Step Verification:

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.
  2. Tap on Account, then select Two-step verification.
  3. Tap on Enable and enter a six-digit PIN of your choice. This PIN will be required when verifying your phone number on WhatsApp.
  4. You will have the option to enter an email address. Adding an email address is recommended as it allows you to reset your PIN if you forget it and helps protect your account. WhatsApp may also email you a reset link in case you need to recover your account.
  5. Tap Next and confirm the email address. Then, tap Save or Done to enable two-step verification.

Disabling Two-Step Verification:

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.
  2. Tap on Account, then select Two-step verification.
  3. Tap on Disable and confirm your action. Keep in mind that disabling two-step verification will remove the additional layer of security from your account.

Changing Your Two-Step Verification PIN:

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.
  2. Tap on Account, then select Two-step verification.
  3. Tap on Change PIN and enter your current six-digit PIN.
  4. Set a new six-digit PIN and confirm it.

Please note that to ensure the security of your account, WhatsApp will periodically prompt you to enter your two-step verification PIN. This helps you remember the PIN and ensures the continued protection of your account. Unfortunately, there is currently no option to disable this prompt without disabling the two-step verification feature.

By managing your two-step verification settings, you can enhance the security of your WhatsApp account and have peace of mind knowing that your personal information is better protected.
